Effective 2026-08-13
We hold as little as we can. We keep enough to stop the service being used to hurt people, and no more. Two groups of people appear in our records: senders, and the recipients they message.
| What | Why | Kept for |
|---|---|---|
| The name you enter | It is shown to the recipient | 90 days |
| Message text and attachments | To deliver, and to answer abuse reports | 90 days |
| Recipient numbers | To deliver | 90 days |
| Your IP address | Rate limiting and abuse response | 90 days |
| Payment reference | Accounting, refunds, fraud | As required by law |
| Email address (optional) | Account sign-in, reply notifications | Until you delete the account |
We never ask for your phone number and never store it. That is the point of the service.
You did not sign up for anything, and you are here because someone used us to contact you. That deserves a plain answer about what we hold.
We hold your phone number, the message that was sent to you, and any reply you sent back. We hold them for 90 days so that we can act on a complaint.
You can stop this permanently. Reply STOP to the message. Your
number is then blocked across the whole service, for every sender, indefinitely. We keep the
number on that block list specifically so it cannot be messaged again — that record is not
deleted, because deleting it would undo the block.
To ask what we hold about you, or to complain, use the report form or email privacy@mynumbr.com.
Images are re-encoded before sending, which removes embedded metadata — including GPS coordinates that phone cameras record. A service that hides your phone number but forwards your home address in a photo would not be hiding anything.
Files are screened automatically before they are sent. Screening compares them against known unlawful content and checks that a file is what it claims to be.
We do not sell data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, and to object to its processing. Ask at privacy@mynumbr.com.
Deleting an account removes your profile, saved contacts, templates and sign-ins. It does not remove records of messages already sent: those are payment records and abuse-response evidence, and a recipient's right to be protected does not end because a sender closed their account.
